Depending on how confident and fit a cyclist you are, there are a range of destinations that can be accessed by bike from Station Fields and Heritage Fields. A bike ride to the nearby Stanley would be expected to take around 15-minutes at an average pace, whilst a ride into Chester-le-Street would take around 30-minutes.
Helping to make many local cycle journeys safe and convenient, the C2C cycle route passes just a short distance from your new home, as it wraps around Stanley. The C2C route forms part of the National Cycle Network Route 7 (NCN) and locally offers a completely traffic free connection between destinations including Sunderland, Parkhead, Stanley and Consett. Further afield the route connects all the way to the west coast – ideal for a leisurely weekend ride or a more adventurous trip!
There is also a range of support and guidance available to cyclists within County Durham, including access to a free ‘borrow a bike’ programme and cycle training opportunities.
